Earth day is coming (Apr. 22). One way to
explain it to others is to watch some of
David Attenborough's videos. My favorite
would be:
New Worlds
part of Living Planet series.
TIME magazine has a special issue on Earth
day with is actually very good. I didn't
see the contrary nonsense they sometimes
put in to appease the developers. The discussions
of climate change and population were middle of
the road and appeared objective. This is better
than last years issue, and maybe next year they
will move a little further.
On the energy front i've encountered lots of think
positive articles (propaganda?) on the future of
nuclear and declining gas prices. Also, lots of
gee-wiz talk about future cars and technology.
None of this positive prattle was balanced with
present reality and i find it very questionable.
For example, the cost of oil is going up not down
and the gas prices will eventual have to follow.
The cost of nuclear power is still very high
and the Director of Hanfords nuclear clean up
program just resigned. ON and on...
Seek truth.
Accept what you find.
Make adjustments.
Enjoy the process.
