Jeff, this stirred up a thousand thoughts, but I'll just toss out ONE at
this time. (It is my opinion) that MOST men and women are not wasting
one second on gender issues. So it might be an error to assume that the
proliferation of crappy books is an indicator of anything except how
cheap it is to publish. I can see where a person would get that
impression but I do not think it is real.
Personally, at one time, I looked into some of such books to see what
they had to say. I never bought any. I came away with nothing of value
and have since refrained from further wasting my time. My summary of
the genre is that it is mostly rubbish. Blah, blah, blah for hundreds
of pages. When a genuine trend or problem is identified, it STILL isn't
useful, because there is apparently no remedy. So big deal, tell us
something that everybody already knows, and provide no solutions. So
what? More later.
Meanwhile, I sympathize with and share your frustration.
