Periodically a few posts come along saying we can generate electricity in space and beam it to earth. This isn't science, it is religion. The facts don't support space stations generating electricity. Robert Rubin wrote a book discussing this called "Entering Space". ---- Daylighting is a buzz word describing the use of solar energy to light and heat commercial buildings. Does it work? Would you believe energy savings of 70 percent. <http://www.thecore-group.com/press%20releases.htm>. ---- Another buzz word is High Performance buildings. See: <http://www.eren.doe.gov/buildings/highperformance/> ---- So.. if we can save energy and money by daylighting and high-performance-building then why are they so rare. One reason is they cost more to build and developers market using price. Another problem is public awareness (education). Few people really understand how energy works. Inefficient products are everywhere and the utilities promote energy efficient homes that use lots of electricity. ---- How much energy does a loud stereo use? According to The Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), audio products like stereo systems and clock radios account for about 1.8 percent of the total electricity use in U.S. homes. Turn the volume down and save energy. <http://www.eren.doe.gov/buildings/documents/>. ---- manufacturing dominates both the energy use and the energy-related carbon emissions, at roughly 80 percent of both. See report, "Energy-Related Carbon Emissions in Manufacturing," at: <http://www.eia.doe.gov/emeu/efficiency/special_topics.htm>. ---- jeff owens, [EMAIL PROTECTED], http://www.xprt.net/~jko to unsubscribe send: unsubscribe ecopath -> [EMAIL PROTECTED]
