Our member-owned electric coops here in Missouri publish a monthly paper,
have kept us well informed about the larcenous evils of deregulation,
including the "green" marketing that fronts for paper companies newly
incorporated for the sole purpose of bilking the public--they buy from any
generation source that sells at the best price. Here in my electric
cooperative we have just raised our electric rates for the first time since
1985, from 5.8 cents per kwh to 6.0 cents per kwh. We operate on a cost
basis, no profit.
