If self-reliance is defined as specifics such as "raising own food" and
"home grown energy" then i would agree. In fact, when we define
self-reliance with specifics it is no longer sustainable. To
be sustainable it would need diversity and the ability to change.
For these reasons my definition of "self-reliance" is slowly changing
to be based on attitudes, actions, and process. With this definition
we view the world as a collection of paths and steps. There are no
stopping points which represent the ideal lifestlye (dead ends).

Ah... the world of advertising and marketing is dominated by
money and power. In this environment it is up to you and me
to find the good ideas and pass them around. If ideas are
ignored then both the author and his culture failed. In
other words, i think many authors are putting out good ideas
but our culture is ignoring them and going for trash. For
example, i left my hole a few days ago and bought a
newspaper. In this paper i found: sports, crisis, local
violence, business, advertising, and more advertising.
Finding a "good" idea to improve one's life is rare and the
Web is sliding down the same slope.
Should we blame the authors for poor marketing? Or blame the market
for demanding trash? Or blame economics for putting profit before
principles?
Or ignore all the noise and talk about juicing common weeds
and grass? What is the nutritional content of quack grass?
What articles or books has anyone written or read? What is
self-reliance?
