Hi Paul, Thanks for passing this on.  I'm not a big fan of
fossil fuels but local generators are a great way to go.
Even a diesel generator in the basement can be more
ecological than remote power plants.  By the time you
add in all the wasted heat, loss in power lines, and
other stuff a utility can't compete with basement power.

I find it amazing that we heat houses with oil instead
of running a motor that produces both heat and electricity.
Maybe when the cost of oil doubles (probably soon) we will
see these basement systems become popular.
