As far as I can find out there are no plans for renewable energy
sources. The only existing program is for grid interconnect electricity
only and is running out of funds is not well known. Most of the profits
are being made by an important member of the Bush inner circle and biggest
donor, Enron of Houston.
The thing is being sold as those nasty liberal environmentalists stopping
power plant construction when the reality is very different. For example
San Jose had a power plant planned that was approved by just about everyone
including the Sierra Club but was stopped completely by Cisco Systems
because they had eyes on the property.
Meanwhile my bill to the balancing fund is near $500 after just 5 months
and it scheduled to continue for 2-3 years when some unknown (betcha it is
the residential consumers) will pay it back with 10% interest. Recent
moves are afoot to make the big industrial customers pay the full price as
they were the ones that pushed hardest for deregulation. I expect that to
fail under the war cry of JOBS!
Last week teh San Diego paper quoted GW the Thief as saying that we cannot
conserve our way to energy independence.
