A basic inherent failure of industrial agriculture is that production
exceeds the carrying capacity of the land or ocean ecosystem. Therefore,
production creates huge inbalances in these ecosystems with its consumption
of inputs and production of wastes. This in turn displaces and even
destroys plant and animal species, depletes natural resources, pollutes our
water and air and destroys human culture.
Of course, the industrial mindset about food production is nearly
monolithic in industry, higher education and government. It's curious about
those trinities, isn't it?
