Dangerous Animals The big cats are moving back into this area and people are saying the bears are increasing. This is due to some laws that were passed a few years ago. Now people are getting scared and clamoring for removal of all protections. Is it possible they have no idea what a dangerous animal looks like?
All this reminds me of statement i heard a few years ago by someone who had spent their life in the forest. When asked about dangerous animals they said: The most dangerous animals are ground bees. I tucked this statement away and did not take it very seriously until today. In lifting a pile of clippings a ground bee hole was uncovered. First there was a few bees whizzing around then they all began to arrive and the noise increased. Like a stupid idiot i tried to stand still and avoid getting stung. That is the wrong strategy for ground bees. One bee found me and somehow signaled the others. The chase was short and painful. I made it to the house where the dog took one sniff and became very agitated. She knew what had happened and then began trying to tell us something. Out of my clothes came the bees and a new painful experience began. My list of dangerous forest animals now include: 1. Rodents carrying any of the deadly virus. 2. Ticks carrying lime disease or RM fever. 3. Ground bees possibly mosquitos. No puma's or bears or snakes. Most of the big predators want nothing to do with us humans. jeff
