I got some feedback today on the FreeBSD stack that DHCP fails because it does not support VLAN tagging. "older devices do not necessarily support VLAN tagging" was what I heard...
The fallback is to use static IP address for this case, which isn't pretty but it gets the job done. I've found very little on the net about eCos and VLAN tagging. Does anyone have any experience with DHCP failing due to missing VLAN tagging support? I'm sure that the latest version of FreeBSD supports VLAN tagging, but the FreeBSD stack in eCos is a bit dated I guess. We're using ethermac(www.opencores.org) and it isn't entirely clear to me if this is a TCP/IP stack or device driver/ethermac issue... Any input on this one would be most welcome. -- Øyvind Harboe http://www.zylin.com/zy1000.html ARM7 ARM9 XScale Cortex JTAG debugger and flash programmer -- Before posting, please read the FAQ: http://ecos.sourceware.org/fom/ecos and search the list archive: http://ecos.sourceware.org/ml/ecos-discuss
