Which toolchain are you using? What is the output of the following commands?

  arm-elf-gcc -v
  arm-elf-gcc -print-multi-lib
  arm-elf-ld -v

I suggest that you start experimenting with the eCos on the "aeb" target
using the eCos arm-elf toolchain:
