As a commercial solution, Skelmir's CEE-J has been ported to eCosPro on selected architectures. CEE-J has been deployed on tens of millions of devices and supports OSGI bundles. Written as a clean-room VM it was designed to be fast and efficient, so is a great match for eCos. Comparisons with alternative VM's running on general purpose OS (such as Linux) typically show CEE-J being 10-15 times faster on the same hardware, using less resources.
