Thanks a lot for your explanations. I agree nearly totally. Only the argument your "old cluncy ADM11" does not like control sequences does not count. You could switch off the COLORED_LOGGING if you do not like it or your hw is not able to display it. But I agree with you not integrating it into eCos.
*XY* macros meant i.e. CYG_TRACE1X or CYG_TRACE3YV or the like. Sorry not beeing clearer here. My proposal concerning the printf on the host side is indeed fragile as it is right now. Thank you again for the time you spend on this. Thomas
