I already know about a problem in 2.6.24, but with this report about
a problem in 2.6.22 also, it looks like there is a fundamental flaw in
how eCryptfs uses netlink.

At this point, rather than debug this, I may elect to abandon netlink
altogether and switch to a procfs channel of communication between the
daemons and the kernel module. I have most of the code written for
that already (ecryptfsddev branch in the kernel.org git repo). I will
see if I can resolve the netlink bug this week, but I do not want to
divert too many resources toward fixing code that is likely to get
scrapped anyway. If it turns out to be an easy fix, then I will have
netlink running reliably soon, otherwise netlink is going away and
eCryptfs will be using procfs instead in the future.

Thanks,
Mike
