I have tested password changing thoroughly over the course of this past
week, and it seems to work in every case I can throw at it.

I'm marking this 'Fix Released'.  Please reopen if you have a specific
case you can reproduce on an up-to-date Intrepid.

Bug description:
Binary package hint: ecryptfs-utils

I recently changed my login password via:
passwd defcon
changed password
rebooted
Logged in and I get no private directory
I then tried ecryptfs-rewrap-passphrase ~/.ecryptfs/wrapped-passphrase oldpass 
newpass and rebooted and still no go, what can I do to recover my data??
