The new version (4.1) of AT&T's VAN software called Accessplus offers 128
bit encryption across the Internet...and it's free!
>From AT&T:
AT&T Internet Services is pleased to announce Version 4.1 of the AT&T
AccessPlus software. This new version is available for customers now via
our web site, and in the near future it will also be available via CD-ROM
and diskettes.
AT&T AccessPlus Version 4.1 is a powerful Windows user interface which
provides customers with a seamless connection to the AT&T Mail global
messaging network. This latest version provides users with enhanced
functionality.
Effective immediately, the previous version of AT&T AccessPlus, Version
4.0,
will be manufacturer-discontinued, and will no longer be distributed. We
encourage you to upgrade to Version 4.1 as soon as you can.
New Features of AT&T AccessPlus 4.1
Some of the improvements, but not all, which have been incorporated in
Version
4.1 are as follows:
* The ability to select a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) connection to the AT&T
Mail network.
* The display of a "Lock" indicator whenever SSL has been specified in the
configuration file.
* The ability to cause all messages (even those containing only plain text)
to be created as type "Mult" and include hidden RTF information, which is
beneficial to certain international customers using various character
sets
and alignments.
* Several other improvements have been implemented, and a few minor
problems
have been addressed.
