Gary...
Take it from someone who started sending 830's to vendors (in another
lifetime)... No matter what your partner has asked you to do, they don't really
want you to PRINT an 830. The data volumes can be very significant, and if you
print the data, it will be very difficult to review and act on it in a timely
manner. In addition your vendor is probably counting on you to be 100% accurate
in your review, and that is never going to be possible (no matter how careful
you and your co-workers are) with a manual process. This is particularly true
if
you are looking at Vendor Managed Inventory...
What you might want to do is map the data to something like MS Access, and
build
some queries and reports from there that can alert you to the significant
changes, or to approaching re-order points. This is still a development effort,
but probably far short of the application forecasting software that you would
need to implement.
Just my $.02 for a Monday morning!

Subject: 830 doc to text?
To: EDI-L
Along the lines of mapping the 850 to something readable - we have been
asked to start receiving the 830 document for forecasting from one of our
major customers, but unfortunately, our application forecasting piece was
never implemented (a major undertaking, I assure you).
Are there any Gentran Mentor or Server NT scripts or EDI-to-text mappings
that someone can point me towards? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
