Response from Steven Stine, Systems Analyst, Kleinschmidt Inc.

If the product in question is not hazardous,
the RR does not need to know the trade name.
For HAZMAT, the appropriate segment for "Trade Name" is
LFH with a qualifier of "TNM". For example:

LFH*TNM*TRADE NAME STARTS HERE*CONTINUE IF NEEDED

NOTE: LFH02 & LFH03 have a maximum size of 25 characters.
If the product name exceeds 25 characters,
      split the fields between words.

Subject: 404 Rail Carrier Shipment Information

We are converting our remaining legacy systems to SAP. After conversion, we
will be operating multiple companies from the SAP system. We are sending
404 transactions to the rail carriers and we need to distinguish the trade
names of our products for emergency response purposes, i.e. different
branches of company support different products. The LH1 segment is used for
a hazardous material but we are having problems determining where to put the
tradename for non-hazardous material. This data needs to be available for
the emergency response team, railroad crew, etc. Has anyone had any
experience in supplying the tradename for hazardous versus non-hazardous
systems?

We have looked at creating an L5 segment prefixed with TN= or tradename= and
also discussed sending a PER segment with EM qualifiers, etc.

Any help, comments or other recommendations would be much appreciated.
