think EDI is here to stay for quite a while yet. Lots of companies have invested
large amounts of money and time in EDI and it will be very tough
to convince them to throw away something that works well and implement
something new (although it looks like someone is trying).
However, the XML world is still available and you can
use your existing EDI technology and business processes. There are quite a few
XML <-> EDI translators. One I have been looking at recently is XEDI from
XMLSolutions (www.xmlsolutions.com)
who seem to be pretty much on the same wavelength. Check out the White Papers on
that web site.
