CommerceXML
cXML is a proposed open industry standard for electronic commerce that
reduces online business costs by facilitating the exchange of content and
transaction information over the Internet between buyers and suppliers. cXML
defines a request/response process for the exchange of transaction
information. These business processes include purchase orders, change
orders, acknowledgements, status updates, ship notifications and payment
transactions.
Sorry that this doesn't tell you very much! I cannot remember where I got
the information.
You could try browsing http://www.cxml.org/home/, but this site seems
determined to make it difficult to find introductory information.
