I am looking for some information from those of you with experience using
Gentran NT. I have some specific questions:
1) Anyone using this package in conjunction with a database that is stored
on another platform? Our database will actually reside on the AS/400, and
I'd love to hear how manageable/difficult that would be.
2) How much history are you able to keep online and still have a manageable
database? We presently have about 150 Trading Partners and store 18 months
of data online for immediate inquiry and reporting.
3) Have any of you attempted to run Gentran NT from a card inside the
AS/400? Any words of wisdom/caution there?
4) Have any of you used their XML translation capabilities? How usable is
this, and did you achieve your end results?
Any other general words of wisdom you can share would be greatly
appreciated! This package is competing with other AS/400-only packages,
and since I do not personally have NT experience, I find this platform
rather intimidating...
