BIG PICTURE
The client is involved in a project to migrate an outside business unit onto the parent EDI infrastructure. The business unit is loosing access to a third party data center service and is being forced into the migration.
DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT
The project involves migration the business units EDI system to the parent companies EDI system. This will involve translation and conversion of the system mapping structure.
SCOPE of the EFFORT
The consultant will be working on a team on 8 people allocated to the project. They will be reporting to a Project manager and part of a group focused on the mapping translation and conversion.
LIFECYCLE AND DELIVERABLES
The business unit must be out of the data center by the 30th of June, therefore, the EDI migration must be complete by then as well.
DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
The day to day responsibilities will include accessing the Premenos translation software, mapping the files and testing the new file structure.

The client will accept candidates that have experience with any translation software package.
BIGGEST TECHNICAL CHALLENGE
The biggest technical challenge will be ramping up on the Premenos EDI Open software they are currently using.
TECHNICAL ENVIRONMENT
The technical environment consists of 3 RS6000 boxes (1 model SP2, 34H, and 43P) running Premenos EDI Open translation Software.
UNIQUE ATTRIBUTES
The client is located in a very nice area in northern New Jersey. They institute summer hours after Memorial Day, which allows for � days on Fridays. The atmosphere is very challenging and diverse which could allow for some involvement in other projects where the consultant can bring some value to the projects.
