Last week, I asked for help with my Gentran system, the services were not
starting. I thought I would post my
results for future reference. Thanks to the many responses from the list. I
was able to figure it out through the help of Sterling.
Thank you, Mike!

The NT system would give me the message that the Mailbox service was hung. With
much effort, we figured out that the service was taking so long to start that NT
grew impatient, and gave up. By starting the executable through MS-DOS and
watching the messages, Mike suspected that the part that verifies the Collection
Mailboxes was taking a long time. He worked with our NT person on site to
change, for the sake of proving this out, a parameter on the NT. Once the point
was made, I was able to check out all my collection mailboxes. Unfortunately, I
had to delete and add each collection mailbox back to clear up the problem.
Since I changed nothing when I added each mailbox back, I can only assume that
the problem must have been with the data in one of the mailboxes. I deleted
them all, and added one back at a time.

Hope someone finds the information useful,
Cindy
