Joe McCoy was kind enough to inform us of an opportunity at his company.
But he unfortunately neglected to include the name of his outfit, and I
really don't think it's the "HotMail" company on Joe's return e-mail
address. I'm not gonna fall for that one ever again - answering blind
ads, that is, and having my resume end up on my boss' desk!
Well, you all know that I have no problem whatsoever mentioning the name
of my employer - FORESIGHT Corp., the World's leading provider of EDI
productivity tools and a dominant player in the realm of B2B Web-EC,
located in Dublin, a suburb of Ohio's capital city, Columbus.
We're a hot, young, pre-IPO B2B startup on the intermittent lookout for
talented associates to work with our EDISIM and TradeSite products,
especially those with C++ programming/analysis and customer care
abilities. I say "intermittent" only because we just don't seem to
have the employee turnover problem common at other B2B software
companies.
We have pretty much been entirely successful recruiting from the Central
Ohio area. Sure, sometimes we have to go as far afield as Marysville
and Johnstown, but we eventually get the right, high-powered people.
But we do welcome resumes from all over. They can be sent to me
directly, and I will treat them confidentially and shepherd them through
our bureaucracy.
I have to be honest, though: the weather sucks (the winters are frigid
and we have Indian Summers), and there are no mountains or oceans (we
were once under glaciers; does that count?), but we do have plenty of
water and cows. But, as the first settlers said upon coming across
Ohio's forests: "well, you don't eat mountains."
And Columbus is home to The Ohio State University (the article is always
capitalized), a premier world-class teaching and research institution if
there ever was one. OSU is the largest University in the United States,
and just so happens to have graduated me. And we also have the Ohio
State Fair (again, the largest in the United States), featuring butter
sculptures in the form of cows and John Glenn.
