To all:

I think it would be wise to move the list to a service like http://www.onelist.com/.  I belong to and manage another non-EDI list there.  There you have the ability to :

  • Download and upload to a files area so you don't have to attach anything - just tell the group that the file you would like to share is in the files area.
  • Subscribe or unsubscribe just like EDI-L, yet no one sees you from Usenet to harvest your email address for SPAM.
  • Access an automatic archive, by thread, subject, etc. of previous messages.
  • Receive digests instead of every message
  • Set up calendars with reminders
  • Set up polls
  • Chat
And it works for non-browsers.  The email comes to you just like EDI-L's does and you do not have to go to http://www.onelist.com/.

And its free to set up and join!

Not sure what the protocol is on forwarding attachments to members on the
list.  However, it seems to me that this was a bit too much for everyone on
the list to receive.  Actually, I am surprised the server did not choke on
this.

Please forward pertinent information directly and ask others if they wish to
have a copy of attachments.

Will Thayer

Vicki
I was clearing some files on Friday and came upon a document I picked up at
a conference about 5 years ago that was originally written back in 1992 when
some of the IRS guidelines were being updated.  I just contacted Richard
Stedman, the author, to confirm he would not have problems with my
forwarding to you.  He has no problems with it, but he want me to make it
clear that it is a 1992 document.  At least it would be a starting point for
you.
