Our next meeting promises to be a
great one. Dave Kirk has spoken to our group in the past and was very well
received. Here are the details: Northwest EC/EDI Roundtable Meeting Thursday, September 28, 2000
1:00 to 3:30 PM @ Boeing Longacres TA Wilson Conference Room 1301 SW 16th St Renton, WA The Digital Government Applications Academy was created by the Washington State Department of Information Services to provide a place where state agencies and private sector partners could come together and collaborate to transform public services by using the Internet to create new value and change the business flow. This collaborative environment is the hallmark of the Academy. By bringing together the business experience of agencies, the cutting edge practices of industry experts, and customers who will use the new digital services, agencies are learning decision by decision how to deliver secure, convenient, and cost effective digital services to its citizens and businesses. They are also creating a common look and feel for applications from many diverse agencies. Dave Kirk, of the Academy will share the challenges and lessons learned in bringing together a large, diverse enterprise with the common goal of accelerating and synchronizing the deployment of online services. Carta, Inc., the private sector partner in e-Permits 101, the first Academy course, will also share their perspective of this new and unique work. Dave Kirk runs the Digital Government Applications Academy. Previously, Dave served as the Strategic Initiatives manager at the Washington State Department of Information Services. He led early electronic commerce initiatives including development of the state's public key infrastructure, digital signature initiatives and electronic payment projects. He also co-led the state's Electronic Tax filing project, making Washington the first state in the nation to let businesses file and pay business taxes over the Internet.
