I've been doing this for just over two years and have never really had an easy time of
support with SC. And now their problem is that the good ones are leaving, at least
from what I can tell.

I can't tell you how many times I've come up with the solution first and had them ask
me for it. In my estimation, that's a little nervy. For instance, the upgrade.sh
script for EC Workbench 5.2-1 had a ridiculous error in it that was simply beyond
belief. To figure out what inode the base data manager was using in the $EDI_ROOT/bin
directory, whoever wrote the script actually did an "ls -il", cut the first field
(inode) into a variable, and grepped that against an "ls -il" of the $EDI_ROOT/bin
directory. This they wrote out to a file as a list of files to link to base. They
did the same for arch

Suppose your inode number is "4". What's grep going to get you? Yep, every file in
the bin directory with an inode number that HAS A "4" IN IT!

I called this in before I figured it out and their response was not to do an in place
upgrade but to create a new installation and migrate everything. What? They shined
me on for two days with junk about patch levels and then this was their last ditch
effort to get me to go away.

I had to fix the script before I could do the upgrade. I was ripping. They waited a
whole week before they called me to ask for the solution this time...

Isn't it coincidental that all 3 companies, PaperFree, Sterling and
Harbinger have been
acquired by other firms that had no EDI background and all are having
support problems???
Cutbacks?
Downsizing?

I wonder........

Think that's bad? Try getting a solution out of Sterling Commerce before
you figure it out for yourself...

We have had similar support problems with Harbinger. Right now I am waiting
for a fix to a problem that I reported 2 days ago and can't seem to get the
person that could help to call me back. This has happened time and time
again. I find it so hard to believe that we can't get answers back from
someone as large as Harbinger. Calling our sales rep or their boss gets
absolutely no response.

Yes, I agree, this is a great forum to find these things out. We may be
getting a new translator product within a year because of bad service alone.
We just installed TLE in May/00.
Frustration just doesn't say enough!

Email or phone, still no response from PaperFree sales !!!

Just thought this group should be aware of the customer support concerns
which I find unbelieveably bad.

This is a good forum for these concerns since calling and emailing Dan
Kazzaz, the founder doesn't seem to do any good either !!!

We've had that experience as well. We found we got faster response by
sending an email to Customer Support vs. only using a phone call.
