Dear Steve:
The 834 Benefit Enrollment and Maintenance transaction set doesn't carry
any HL7 messages at all, since it has no BIN segment for including HL7
clinical data.
The 275 Patient Information transaction set has a BIN for encapsulating
an HL7 message, though, and can be used to accompany an 837 Health Care
Claim when the PWK specifies an electronic attachment, or used in
response to a 277 Request for Additional Information.
Can you give a little more detail on your scenario?
