Hi Jack,

AI does not need unique maps for each trading partner. You can use
the same map for all trading partner using that same Document ID and
Version. And depending on the complexity of the map, it can take an
experienced mapper 3-5 days, including a QA review. This is, of course,
dependant on the mapper having accurate and complete specs, as you noted.
In many cases an existing map is not sufficient to qualify as "complete
specs". Many times there is information not present in a map that is
required by a mapper.

Take Care,

Subject: Mapping Conversion From MF to Unix

We are converting from main-frame to Unix using GE's AI translator. Does
anyone have comments about the AI translator and converting 10 maps and
about 40 or so trading partners?

Comments that would help are:
1. Does AI need to have maps built for each trading partner, or does it
allow 1 map built that will accomodate all trading partners, when all
trading partners are using the same segments?
2. How long would an experienced person take in creating an AI map,
provided he has accurate specs, such as, a map that already exists on the
main-frame?
3. Personal comments regarding how you like or dis-like AI.
