Hi All,
I'm sure that many of you have seen or heard the latest request from
WalMart. WalMart is changing their PO number length from 4 to 24 (for
version 4010 and 4030). This affects all apparel and general merchandise
vendors (more importantly, ME!). Many of you will likely note that the ANSI
standard length for the PO number is 22 for version 4010 (not sure for
4030), but if the field length doesn't fit your business need, then ignore
the standard. And, I can live with that.
However, what I don't like is that I do not believe that WalMart ever
thought about how this might affect their vendors. Not one of our
applications has a PO number field that long, and it will be very costly to
have mods put in all of our applications.
Yesterday, we had a brainstorming meeting on how we might want to approach
this op-por-tun-ity (it kills me to call it that). However, I did not like
any of our ideas on how to handle this, and I was wondering if any of you
are having the same problems, and how you might handle this.
I have always found this forum to be very insightful.
As always, thanks for you advice.
