The UNA segment only needs to be used if the delimiters differ from the
"norm"... that being : (colon) for the component separator, + (plus) for the
element separator, , (comma) for the decimal notation, ? (question mark) for
the release indicator, and ' (apostrophe) for the segment terminator. If those
delimiters are used, the UNA is optional. In my experience, it is not usually
sent.

The UNG segment is also very rarely seen. I know of one company's
implementation where they are using this segment to distinguish between their
different warehouses, as each warehouse would need to have a separate final
destination after processing. However, I find this to be the exception and it
is usually not sent from the European companies that I deal with.
