No, with respect, that is precisely the point. You have used the
translator simply as a translator, doing no work at all - by your
own words, simply turning back an automatic 997-ACK - and then
doing all the checking in your program to generate an 824 for all
the edit checking.
This is precisely the approach I advocated for the HIPAA 997s where
detailed checking against an IG is required, leaving the 997 simply
as a transport-layer acknowledgement.
The only difference between us is that you have a separate post-translation
program with its own file and database formats, whereas out VAN and translator
software does it all in one place without the need to define a (very large)
file structure to hold the complete TS.
