Dave,
This is where the 857 comes in handy. The 856 contains shipment information
but no monetary information, the 810 contains monetary information, but no
shipment information, the 857 is a 810 and 856 combined in one, that I feel is
an underutilized document.

Regards,
-Steve

Brain,
not to state the obvious but I would contact your freight forwarder. Most
of the larger ones, without
mentioning names, have sophisticated EDI departments. The most difficult
part of EDI and international
shipments is that some foreign governments require information that is not
in standard ANSI documents and
sometimes has to be put in REF or NTE segments which gets interesting (and
dangerous). On inbound, US
Customs can get a little picky about documentation so I would also contact
US Customs about their requirements.
What country are your products coming from? Do you get World Trade
magazine, it often has information
related to international paperwork/EDI issues.
