Am I the only person here who is put off by anonymous postings and requests on this
mailing list? What are the
mailing list guidelines for such activities?

I have been on the Internet for about 20 years and it has always been the custom to
identify oneself when making
requests for information. That practice seems to have fallen out of favor especially
among AOLers. On this mailing
list I see postings from people seeking competitive information that attempt to hide
their intentions by not
identifying themselves. Since they wish to be anonymous, why don't they just buy the
information from the many
services that provide it such as DataPro or Gartner Group? Or since they are willing
to be unethical, why not just
disguise their identity and directly approach their competition for the info?
