Lou, VAN's have kinds of varying pricing structures.  Before you negioate with the VAN's you should determine your data volume (in and out), consult with your trading partners who they are using, and since you are in an outlying area if there is a local calling number if you are doing a dialup.  You might also look into Internet alternatives.
