Rachel,
Here is a ruling from an expert (Tim Cochran of DISA). Please see enclosed responses below between "####-Begin and ####-End" We had approached Foresight for procuring 'table data' in SEF format for all X12 and EDIFACT standards. Foresight referred the matter to DISA. After this response from Tim, I did not contact Foresight for this. That time, I understood Tim's response to mean that 'table data' in SEF for X12 can only be procured from DISA. Re-reading this message again (today), I think, I was wrong in my interpretation. It looks like; I can legally procure 'table data' in SEF from Foresight. Any comments? DISA and X12 would clearly have serious issue with your company if you were to "buy [X12] standards directly from FORESIGHT or any other company who is willing to sell [them]." Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you. But I'm not the expert on the rules for doing so. Thanks for the info. Do you know what can be legally published concerning the X12 standards? Many companies publish their sub-set of the standard, so that seems to be allowed. Can the spec be legally published in another format? Earl Wertheimer [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.spe-edi.com .
