RFID 101

Most current RFID tags contain 96 bits of information broken down as
follows:
8 bits - Header - EPC tag version
28 bits - EPC Manager - Identifies the manufacturer
24 bits - GTIN - Object Class like a UPC number
36 bits - Serial number references instance information

GTIN information is accessible via a catatlog provider like
         (UCCnet)
Serial information (instance) is accessible via the ONS
         (Object Name Service)
Generally posted by the manufacturer on their server
         accessed via a web address
All other information will be part of the 856 (like it is
         currently transmitted
More expensive RFID tags are re-writable (approx $15.00 per)
Most tags will be WORM (write once read many)
Only VANS that provide a catalog service will be used
