This thread has been all over the place, but I would like to return to one of the few points that did happen to be somewhat relevant to the original question.
Someone raised the question "what if your document has multiple header sections?" This gets to the question of whether or not your XML document contains one and only one business document. There have been a few exceptions, but most groups I'm aware of that are developing standard XML schemas are keeping this a one-to-one relationship, and aren't trying to make a single XML document convey more than one business document. As we all know, this isn't the case in X12 EDI world where, for example, TS 837 can convey hundreds of health care claims. The few oddballs out there I know of who don't follow the conventional practice have designed XML documents to directly mirror what they are doing in other formats, such as flat files or EDI. If they're doing that, multiple headers are probably among their lesser problems. Cheers, --------------------------------------------------------------- Michael C.
