Steve,
Zipper-D, the mapping tool is written in Delphi/Kylix for Windows/Linux.
Zipper-API, the translation engine is written in C++ for portability and
performance. The maps are ANSI text files do they can be ported to any
platform.
We have already compiled and tested the C++ engine on Windows, Linux, and Unix
(with GCC) and it works great!. On our tests, translation speeds were 5 to 10
times faster that most table-driven translators because we use in-memory
translation. Plus, complete EDI standards need not be installed, each standard
set is included in the translation library with the respective map for each
transaction.
You can think ot it as an EDI Translation Object (black box) that cotains a
translation engine and a translation library with all the necessary maps,
standards, and code tables all self-contained in a lite package. A new and
improved vision on Mercator perhaps.
As I mentioned we are still on the trial phase, but we are looking for input
for pricing, licensing, and improvements. We want to listen to users and
consultants so we're open to suggestions.
I want to thank all those who have expressed their comments and/or interest in
participating in this trial phase for a new and exciting alternative to EDI
translation. All your feedback has been extremely useful.
Again thanks,
Ricardo
Smells like Java does zipper run on java? The tradeoff between
language
portability is performance.
