We do both types of EDI transactions for our automotive customers. 862(DELJIT) and 830(DELFOR) combination and for other customers just an 830(DELFOR) that serves as both documents.
The 862/DELJIT creates orders as an 850 and the 830/DELFOR creates planning lines which reserve quantity based on our customers forecast for future 862(DELJIT's). The 830(DELFOR) sent alone has the Firm orders which are mapped as if they were a purchase order and create actual orders in the system and 830(DELFOR) Planning which are mapped as a forecast and may be loaded into our system as planning lines according to our customer's requirements. The planning lines never become orders but reserve quantity for the firm orders as they come in - once the firm order comes in - the planning line drops off and releases quantity for the firm orders and new future planning lines are created from the new 830(DELFOR).
