Carl: $1300 printer should is something your client should be able to afford for sure. Zebra has both high-end and low-level models. They were able to afford your services, right? Knowing JCP, and they way they order (store-by-store); I can project your client printing at least 2000 labels per PO. The cost of the laser printed labels $0.20 p/each would take the number up to $400 vs zebra media $0.05 per label (or less). You do the math.
Also, regardless how good the laser labels are, you'll end-up having ahesive melting due to hight temprature, getting them stuck to the drum and other movoing parts. New drum for the laser priner would cost as much as the printer itself. You'll find yourself gettting a new printer every year or so :-) Ilia -----Original Message----- From: Carl Galgano [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sunday, March 27, 2005 7:48 PM To: 'Earl Wertheimer'; [email protected] Subject: RE: [EDI-L] Need stand alone bar code software Earl: I am very familiar with thermal transfer printers, like Zebra. Initially this client will do very low volumes, and unable to justify the cost of a Zebra, but hopefully this will change in the future. Regards, cjg Carl J. Teklynx (the writers of Label View) bought Label Matrix, so that both products are now owned by the same company. LaserJet labels are probably the most expensive way to print. It's ok for a small volume, but Thermal Transfer printers (Zebra, TEC) are better with large volumes. I can email you the JCP templates for Label Matrix, if you want.
