I have never had any trading partners request this EDIFACT transaction. I only know that our German trading partners require us to create a monthly invoice report for their VAT auditing. Supposedly if we can provide a digital signature on our EDI INVOIC transactions, the monthly report would not be needed. Yes we know our customers and how much they owe us, but if we are not sending this report they will often delay payment. So why would this be "BS"? Authentication seems most useful for high-value transactions on behalf of third parties (e.g., bank payment orders), so I would only question why one would go out of her way to authenticate an invoice?
