I don't understand why your inbound software can't handle this (it's perfectly
legal), but if you really want to split them...

you'll need to copy out the entire functional group (GS thru GE segments)
containing the transaction sets (824 and 997 are always in
separate functional groups), then add an ISA-IEA envelope around each
functional group, remembering to adjust the segment IEA
element 1 included groups control total.

We have a piece of software which makes this really easy, the EDI Pal(tm) ANSI
EDI Viewer-Editor-Printer if you don't mind spending
$159.00 + maintenance, AND you don't mind doing each file with an operator (it
won't do this unattended). But the EDI Pal is also
an editor, printer, and it will handle all the healthcare transaction sets and
parse them into loops... so this product might be
overkill for something as simple as this.

Write for demo version if interested.
