Dawn,

Have you looked at the 940 (Warehouse Shipping Order)? I am sure you are
comfortable with 810,850, and 856. These transactions fit well into the
standard AP but in warehousing and logistics where you are more concerned with
product rotation, storage, and inventory balances the 940,943, and
830(schedule a demand) are great transactions because not only does it have
spaces for holding the AP referencial document level items(PO's Refernce
Numbers Department Numbers etc) these transactions also have the detail needed
for product line item information to get the right product out to the ultimate
shipping destination.

For Holding vs. Shipping check the flags for transaction type and look at a
combination of transactions. in some scenarioes like Automotive you may get a
blanket PO and a Demand Forecast(830).....You might receive repetitively the
demand forecast until the flip a flag(some indicator in transaction type) to
tell you based on the flag the amount to ship.

Anyhoot, plenty of options. I can tell you the majority of Supply Chain
companies I have worked with are familiar with the 940(Series) transactions.
Some of the boutique solutions rolled out by FedEx and UPS it just depends on
the project manager you get.

  just my two cents,

  John

hold information to a 3rd party logistics
vendor. The idea is to send to our 3pl the information pertaining to
product hold orders and release orders so when they are receiving
product they can refuse product that is on a quality hold and/or not
distribute product that we have put on quality hold. Also I need to be
able to send the opposite of that which would be the release order. I'm
looking for some advice on what transaction set to use for this type of
information. There will be no quanities on the document just the
product information and codes indicating what type of hold it is so they
  can respond appropriately.

Hoping someone out there has run into this and can give me some solid
  advice.
  Thanks,
  Dawn
