MEETING HOST: Southern California e-Business Forum

TOPIC: "Outsourcing the B2B/EDI Function: Boon or Bane?"

Every day on the news you hear something about the outsourcing or
off-shoring of jobs. Add to this the impact of Sarbanes-Oxley and it's not
surprising that the role of a "Chief Process Officer" will become a new
executive role.

Many companies, in their efforts to cut costs, have outsourced BAD or BROKEN
business processes, but that's not what electronic commerce for B2B was
meant to do. In this meeting we will review IT outsourcing trends, discuss
how you can leverage your existing B2B/EDI infrastructure to combat the
trend of Business Process Outsourcing, and learn what you can do to drive
recognition of the need for a Chief Process Officer within your company.

SPEAKER: Paul Garino, Sterling Commerce

Paul Garino has over 15 years of experience assisting Fortune 500 companies
on B2B initiatives with emphasis on Business Process Automation. Garino
specializes in the area of trading partner on-boarding, B2B communication,
business process management, business activity monitoring and application
integration. His experience includes leading B2B automation projects with
major industry leaders in the retail, consumer product, manufacturing, and
logistics industries. As a co-author of Sterling's Business Process
Evaluation Methodology, Paul has helped many companies understand how to
leverage technology to automate internal and external business processes.
Garino has 10 years of experience as a Corporate Controller and Information
Systems Auditor. While employed with Experian (Formerly TRW Information
Systems) he uncovered the first case of identity theft within a credit
reporting agency and led a joint investigation on identity theft with the
FBI and local law enforcement agencies. To date, Garino has worked with over
500 companies on multi-enterprise collaboration initiatives. He has a BA in
Accounting, from William Paterson University.
