There is probably not a great deal which can be done about it short of 
making the list fully moderated. Even a genuine user with the EDI-L 
address in his/her address book can get a worm infection which causes 
emails with an undesirable payload to be sent to the list. On the plus 
side the stripping of attachments before a post is distributed works 
well, and the simulated postings are no more than a nuisance.
