Here are actual questions I have been asked.

Q1. What are your strengths?
Q2. What are your weaknesses?
Q3. Are you willing to travel? (e.g. from here in Bangalore to, say, San
Francisco)
Q4. What is the delimiter used between elements within a segment in X12?
Q5. What are your career goals?
Q6. Do you have any questions?
Q7. Where did you get your college degree?
Q8. If offered the position, how soon could you start work?

You may think the above list is skewed toward non-EDI questions. I find
that it is representative of the mix of questions I have encountered. BTW,
my answer to Q4 was, "My experience with EDI has been limited to configuring
processing scripts in Unix. To answer your question, I don't know, but I
could look it up." I got the job with a huge multi-national manufacturer,
and learned EDI from the inside. The answer to Q4 is - the data element
separator can be any legal character, as long as it is not used in the data
for any purpose other than as a delimiter. If I had given that answer
though, I doubt that the limited-knowledge manager who interviewed me would
have hired me.

Advice: Tell the truth, don't exaggerate your experience, and as Gran'ma
used to say, don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Subject: [EDI-L] I need help with EDI interview questions....

Hello folks,

I am new relatively new to the EDI world. I have worked with
transaction sets, 850, 855, 810, 856, 867.

I am in the market preparing myself for an interview and was
wondering, if any of you have any idea, what kind of questions to
expect in an interview.

Any advise / guidance would by highly appreciated.

Best wishes,

REx
