ALE option is good if you dont have huge outbound volumes coming out of
SAP.  GIS 3.1 was giving an  out of memory exception even at high heap size
settings ( on an IBM AIX machine  ). I am not sure if they have fixed in 4.0
.

You might have to tune your java vm heap size settings - and try different
volumes.
