All, Don't worry about Shan. He really did understand the point of my pipe vs asterisk post. He just made his interesting explanation because he is worried his point-haired boss reads this list, and he didn't want to re-code all his TP setups to save storage space.
BTW - do you know that the asterisk is also known as the Nathan Hale operator? It all happened back in the times of the American revolutionary war, when the American patriot was executed by the British.
