John,
I personally appreciated your rant. Thanks. You said what needed said.
I find it intriguing that while we were at once repulsed at the thought of
outsourcing simple shipping port operations to an off-shore concern, under fear
of some unforeseen harm coming to the American people, we then retreat to our
self-imposed (politically correct?) posture of supporting businesses putting
the screws to the American worker.

In view of the scorn your post elicited, may I suggest next time you feel
inclined to vent in such manner you consider using a subject title such as
"<SALES> My Country"

No, the proper response for the off shore request is "What is the rate you
are paying".

For one who has been unemployed for the last 6 months now after 16 years in the
EDI community I am tired of all of the support that we give to the request for
information that is from the off-shore area.

Sure, I might know the answer but why offer if for free when I am now done with
my severance package, my unemployement and now am living on my savings. My job
was outsourced and the automotive sector for supply parts OEM is going to
China. Jobs are hard to come by and any help would be a plus. So for me I say
what is your rate and I can help you with your problem. Better start to see
what is going around or you will be in the same boat as me without a job and
the only prospect is to move from my family and friends. Off shore was great
for my company but it sure was not great for me and my family.

I can tell you that after doing automotive EDI for 16 years for the off shore
companies they were not there to offer me a job when I needed it.

Not really bitter but just trying to deal with reality and what I will be doing
with the rest of my life since it has been six months with nothing.

John
